Thoriated Tungsten Electrode

The comprehensive performance of thoriated tungsten is very good.
The electron emission is strong and the electron work function is 2.7eV.
It can bear long-time welding with high current load ability, stable arc. It’s the most commonly used electrodes today.
It can facilitate arc starting, increase arc stability, improve current-carrying capacity of the rod.
The only disadvantage of this electrode is slight radioactive pollution.
It is often been used for D.C. welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy and titanium alloy.
